Developh Camp

Inside the Curriculum 🧠

Together, we'll make & think about making + practice across 12 weeks.

Every session and reading material is tagged by relevance to our focus areas. We encourage you to help us direct what themes and premises you'd like to spend your time in the Fellowship on.

Excited ka na ba?

PHASE 1: FOUNDATIONS

Our generation's greatest challenge is not figuring out "can we build it?"—it's thinking "should we build it?"

The first four weeks of the Fellowship are all about grounding ourselves in our identity & mode of practice and combatting 'techno-solutionism', questioning whether our problem spaces are meant to be solved with technology at all.
Identity & Practice
The first four weeks of the Fellowship are all about grounding ourselves in our identity & mode of practice and combatting 'techno-solutionism', questioning whether our problem spaces are meant to be solved with technology at all.
Ethics in Design & Tech
This topic brings us to question the politics and ethics of our role as technologists, the meaning of 'social good' in our organization's mission, and actionable steps we can take.

What does it mean to be a technologist? What is the role of technology in the course of history? What social and cultural values go into the inputs and outputs of tech?

PHASE 2: DIVERGENCE
An exploration of breadth, potentiality, and different mediums. This month focuses on an expansion of our thinking, methods, and toolkits as we learn more about different platforms, tools, and our relationship with them.
Experimenting with Tools
Our modes for creation range from art to audio, product to literature, and web to architecture. In this topic, we explore the magic that happens when collaborating at the intersections of these fields. How do our creative tools and competencies affect the way we think and make?
Creation Workshops
All fellows will be working on an output that makes use of technology to respond to a social issue. This topic will explore the various formats community-oriented projects can take, through a series of workshops on building, publishing, and designing.
PHASE 3: CONVERGENCE
By this time, Fellows are encouraged to focus on building their project—exploring their work, its systems, implications, and its maintenance in detail.
Thinking in Systems
How do we account for unintended consequences in tech and design? Here, we expolore how systems thinking allows us to reclaim our intuition about the problem spaces our tech aims to address, and to be more creative and courageous with our approach to redesigning better futures.
Project Management
Finally, we explore processes and principles that can help you sustainably grow your creation projects even beyond the duration of Camp. We draw inspiration from the startup world in setting goals, gathering feedback, and aligning team members to take ideas from concept to launch.

While your 12 weeks in the Camp only offer a cursory glance at a life-long process of iteration, we hope you're able to explore and develop your method and learn with us.

Camp is organized by Developh, a community for student technologists and creatives in the Philippines.
